Elizabeth Susan Edwards

June and July 2008

July 27th 2008. (Nearly 6 months old). Bears.

July 21th 2008. (5½ months old). Sitting up.

Elizabeth has loved sitting up, with support, for a long time. She likes to look around and wave her toys around energetically. This evening she realised that she could hold onto her foot or the floor to support herself.

July 19th 2008. (5½ months old). Owl pyjamas.

We took this photo so that Granny could see Elizabeth's owl pyjamas. Elizabeth was very tired, but gave a big grin when she saw the camera.

July 11th 2008. (5 months old). Ready to crawl.

Elizabeth wants to crawl, but doesn't have quite have the strength or coordination yet.

July 11th 2008. (5 months old). Carrots.

Recently we've been trying new food. The rice gave her constipation, so she's had oats and carrots and will be having sweet potato next. These pictures are from the 2nd time she tried carrots, when she still wasn't very keen.

June 23rd 2008. (4½ months old). Own room.

Elizabeth slept in her own room last night.

June 22nd 2008. (4½ months old). Eating rice.

Elizabeth tried rice cereal for the 1st time this afternoon. It tasted worse than plain formula but Elizabeth liked it and she was very good at eating from a spoon. There's a long video below; in the 1st and 3rd segments, Julie is feeding her. In the middle section Jon is, and is making a mess.

June 16th 2008. (4½ months old). Stroller.

We went for a walk and tried Elizabeth in the stroller without the carseat bit. She's still a bit small for it but enjoyed looking out, and then fell asleep clutching one of her favourite toys

June 10th 2008. (4 months old). Visit to the Doctor.

Elizabeth's 4 month check-up and vaccinations were this morning. She weighs 13lb 5oz (50th percentile) and is 25½ inches long (90th percentile). It is reassuring that her weight is now nice and average. The visit to the Doctor had good timing because Elizabeth has had a cold and a nasty sounding cough since Sunday. The cough is nothing to worry about though, the Doctor said, there's nothing in her chest and it sounds worse than it is. The vaccinations made Elizabeth cry but once we got home and she had her lunch she cheered up again.

June 6th 2008. (4 months old). Rolling over and sucking feet.

Here's a video of one of Elizabeth's first roll-overs. Returning to her back from her tummy is still a bit of a challenge.

Elizabeth has noticed that her feet are a lot of fun and it didn't take her long to combine them with her love of stuffing things into her mouth.
